A Family Home in Wiltshire

This family cottage is in a long open valley in the heart of Wiltshire. The garden sloped down from the house which limited the usable space to sit, entertain and enjoy the views. Unsightly walls framed the garden at the rear of the house and telegraph poles directly on the boundary drew the eye. The design creates a terrace that runs along the length of the house which is framed with raised beds, creating a single usable level that allows access from one side of the house to the other. Steps have been added to give access to the lawn which has been partially levelled. The unsightly walls have been reduced and replaced with trees and hedging which both frame the views and distract the eye. The planting is soft and scented.
