A Dorset Sun Trap

A family garden in the heart of a small Dorset town which makes the most of a long space, whilst masking awkward boundaries. Here is a beautiful space that can be used by all, that also links the main house and the cottage. A large courtyard terrace is framed by the house on three sides, with a deep veranda offering an all-weather space for entertaining. The planting around the oval lawn softens the boundaries and screens the main garden from the driveway. The link between the main garden and the cottage garden has been framed with oak pergola arches, and a grass path with wildflower meadow on either side creates a green transition between the properties.
