Designer Fi Boyle chose rustic Corten steel for this country garden design; ‘as a material it sits well within the landscape,’ says Fi. ‘The colour, whilst distinctive, blends and picks up the colour of the natural materials and planting around it. Versatile, Corten is used across a range of structures in the garden - the pool, planters and arches – creating a cohesive design which complements the surroundings. The steel-edged pool makes a statement frame that contrasts with the surrounding, paler limestone paving and richly coloured pea-gravel, whilst picking up on the terracotta of the pots. Using the same material throughout the garden creates a sense of rhythm and continuity.’
